Visible Mold Growth after the Rainy Days!
8/7/2020 (Permalink)
The weather in San Mateo County and San Francisco County are usually consistent with warm sunny days and some winds. We usually don't see strong storms hit the Bay Area. However, when it does rain, it pours! The rain can last a few days to a couple of weeks at a time and of course since our weather is odd its mixed off and on with sunny days and rainy days!
SERVPRO of South San Francisco City/ San Bruno noticed a trend after a couple of weeks to months with no rain. We start to receive calls with mold growth found visible on ceilings and at the top of the walls. Usually our customers have no idea how mold could have grown or became visible in odd sections of the home or businesses and are unaware that the mold was possibly caused by the previous rains.
The rain water can find it's way into the structure by possible roof damage/ leaks or even through the smallest cracks or deteriorated window seals on the exterior of the house or building. The rain water will keep coming in as long as it rains and the source of intrusion is not fixed and corrected.
If you see visible mold growth happening after it rains on the ceilings or top of walls or even around windows than there is a possibility rain water is getting in!
